10:00 – 14:00DaySolar Panels at peak; safest exploration window

Weather systems

 • Rain — ~30% chance per day, weighted to dusk. Disables Solar; boosts Rainwater Turbine.
 • Storm — ~10% chance per day. Heavy wind boosts Wind Turbine to 4 PWR/h. Reduces visibility.
 • Snow (Mountains only) — constant, accelerates hypothermia. Insulated Cabin module mandatory.
 • Heat (Canyons day, summer) — dehydration accelerates 2x; carry 2x Water.

Calendar & seasons

There are no seasons — weather is per-day RNG within biome bounds. The Weather widget shows a 3-hour forecast. You can plan trips around storm windows for Wind power or Rainwater farming.

Common planet questions

Does Outbound have a day-night cycle?

Yes — a full in-game day is roughly 24 in-game minutes (~24 minutes real time). Solar Panels output peaks 10:00–14:00; storms and rain weighted to dusk and night.

Does weather affect gameplay in Outbound?

Significantly. Rain disables Solar but boosts Rainwater Turbines. Storms boost Wind Turbines. Snow appears only in Mountains and accelerates hypothermia. The Weather widget on the HUD shows the next 3 hours.

Can I sleep through the night?

Yes — sleep at 19:00 in any van bed. The bed has to be unobstructed and you must have hunger above 25%. Sleeping advances time to 06:00 next day.
