Why Coast western lighthouse is the dominant pick

 • Flat parking that fits Big One and Schoolie chassis.
 • Tidal Capacitor mounts here — the only spot with reliable tide cycles.
 • Storm-fed Wind Turbine averages 3 PWR/h.
 • Salt and Pearls within 200m walking range.
 • Line-of-sight to two signal towers (West Lighthouse + Reef Relay).

Two-base meta

Veteran setup: keep your maxed-out Schoolie or Big One parked at the Coast western lighthouse as your main base. Run a Pathmaker as your daily driver for Mountains and narrow Canyons corridors. The Pathmaker carries minimal storage — it doesn’t need it because the main base is always close.

Common base-location questions

Where is the best base location in Outbound?

The Coast western lighthouse plateau is the dominant late-game pick. Flat parking, salt + pearls + glass within walking range, the Coastline trader on foot, and dual power feeds (Tidal + Wind). It is also the only location with line-of-sight to two signal towers.

Should I have one base or multiple bases?

One main base + one forward camp. The main base lives at Coast western lighthouse. The forward camp moves with you per chapter — Canyons river bank for hours 8–20, Mountains south plateau for hours 30+.

Can I move my base after building it?

Yes — the van itself is the base. Drive to a new location, all modules and storage move with you. Static placeables (Evaporation Rack, Rainwater Turbine on the ground) stay behind — build a second one at the new site.
